TAKE ACTION: Join with 350.org to tell Obama an “all of the above” energy like fracking & Keystone XL dooms water and climate.
Water on Fire: In this video you can see water in a shallow depression that is highly contaminated and bubbling flammable compounds. The terrifying impacts of fracking are REAL and they’re here in Ohio. The landowner in this video is able to light the gas coming out. This is why we need people taking action, and this is why that action needs to be happening NOW!
Obama has made hydrofracking as well as dirty energy projects like the Keystone XL Pipeline part of his call for “all of the above” energy policy regardless of the impacts on human health or climate. For those of us living next to fracking sites like the landowner in the film “all of the above” energy policy means creeks bubbling with methane and water we can light on fire.
We’re not going to stand for an ‘all of the above’ energy policy that DOOMS us to poisoned water and climate disaster.
That’s why we’re asking everyone to join us in Columbus tomorrow with 350.org to meet Obama in Columbus and let him know that we support clean renewable energy and will not let these dirty industries poison our neighbors.

Ohioans are now on the front lines of the fracking boom, and like all Americans we are seeing the beginnings of what the climate crisis will mean for us. President Obama says he remains committed to renewable energy, but as he visits Ohio on the tail end of a record breaking winter heat wave (remember winter?), we need him to stand up against fracking and projects like Keystone XL.
Last night I met with some of the 350 organizers and student organizers in Columbus and we decided to greet President Obama when he arrives tomorrow with a boisterous rally asking him to stop fracking and projects like Keystone XL.
If we can show him that renewable energy is a priority for us here in Ohio, at a time when all eyes are on our state, then maybe he’ll think twice before supporting dirty energy projects. The bigger the crowd, the stronger our message will be – can you join us tomorrow?
Here are the details:
What: Rally to Greet President Obama on his ‘All of the Above’ Energy Tour
Where: Meetup in front (east lawn) of the Ohio Union, at Ohio State University (1739 N High St, Columbus, OH 43210). Parking is available next door at the Ohio Union Parking Garage.
When: Thursday, 3/22, 2pm-4pm
We will head over to the Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC, 337 W 17th Ave), location of the President’s speech, for the rally itself at 2:30pm.
One of the exciting things about living in Ohio is that we get to take center stage in Presidential election years. That means that the louder we get now, the harder it will be for candidates (and Presidents) to get behind dirty energy projects. We can have a big impact tomorrow – if we have enough folks to make some noise.
I hope you can be there to join us,
