Tuesday, May 15 (tomorrow), the Ohio Chamber of Commerce is holding its Annual Meeting and Legislative Reception in Columbus. Entitled “The Shale Energy Belt: Making Ohio Great Again,” the meeting will feature a keynote address from John Walker, CEO of EnerVest, the gas company that owns more wells that were cited for violations by ODNR than any other operator in 2011. The reception is scheduled for 5:30 at the Statehouse Atrium.
We will gather at 5:00 P.M. outside the Statehouse to push back against the oil and gas industry’s efforts to lease the Ohio state government. Bring a sign, an idea, and a friend (or four). Join via facebook here, and help turn folks out by inviting all your friends and contacts (facebook and otherwise).
Those of who are in Columbus on Tuesday morning are also encouraged to attend important, related events taking place that day. At 9:30 a.m., the Oil & Gas Commission will be holding a hearing on mandatory pooling at the ODNR Fountain Square Complex, Building H, in the 2nd floor conference room. And at 10:00 a.m., the Ohio Senate Energy & Public Utilities Committee will be voting on Senate Bill 315. Anti-frackers need to be well represented at both hearings to hold Ohio politicians and regulators accountable. See you there!
